When it comes to important skills every student should have, critical thinking seems to be at the top of every educator's list and it's easy to see why. Thanks in part to new technology and rapidly-evolving career fields, workplaces are demanding quick-thinkers and problem solvers making once-desirable talents like memorization a relic of the past. So, how can we help TXGU'ers cultivate these important skills while they're still in the classroom? For most students, seeing is believing.

It turns out, one of the most promising strategies to teach students critical thinking has been an important part of most curricula for decades: visual learning. That's because almost two-thirds of the population are visual learners, which means utilizing tools like infographics and memes can help teens process information more quickly and thoroughly. And when students are given the chance to create their own visual aids, lessons tend to stick around long-term—likely due to the creative connection they make to otherwise boring subjects. Besides, who doesn't love a good meme?
