Grade Level: 9th/10th

Introduction for Educators: Students need to make a diploma plan now, or else their schedules will be extremely busy down the road.

Introduction for Students: While your schedule may look free and open now, it can get filled up very fast. Make a plan today, and you won't be scrambling later.

The Activity: By now, you’ve hopefully learned about the different diploma plan options. So it's officially time to create your own plan. Schedule a meeting with your school's guidance counselor (or your GEAR UP advisor) to design your diploma plan. Figure out which classes you need to take in order to earn a distinguished diploma, and then make a schedule that fits them.

Once you’ve got your plan all figured out, create a visual timeline of your four years in high school. Place your required coursework along that line, and post the completed timeline somewhere you'll see it often.

Bonus Features: Toss these reflection questions out to your students: What's a goal you want to accomplish this year? What's a goal you want to accomplish this month?
