Audience: 9th-12th-grade students

Big Picture: Get ready for a pretty impressive collection of “virtual tours”—hundreds of videos walking you around some of the country’s major public and private universities. You’ve got to register to get full access (easy to do through Facebook or Google), but then you can watch as many videos as you want—there’s even a section spotlighting careers that may be just right for you.

How It Helps You: Flying around the country to visit colleges can get real pricey, real fast, so YOUniversityTV could help solve that problem—take a virtual campus tour first, then decide if you want to see it in person.

Must-Use: The Secret Diaries blog/vlog is fairly cool—written by one of the site’s “correspondents,” it’s a public account of her life during her senior year in high school.

Parent-Friendliness: There’s a News section that your parents may find helpful—it’s filled with articles and advice on the admissions process, financial aid, and other college-prep tasks.

Protip: A little web-surfing tip for you: The site is filled with videos and is a bit unruly, and our tests on both Mac and PC suggest that using Firefox to view the site is probably your best bet for a smoother ride.
