Scientific studies are helpful. Although sometimes a lot of information to take in, they’re totally worth it. And what better way to learn stuff than from a trusted source? A new study released by the ACT and NCCEP provides some pretty helpful, detailed insight into what low-income students are facing on their way to college. The study is called The Condition of College & Career Readiness 2013: Students from Low-Income Families, and it not only takes you on their journey, but also offers up some best practices to help these students get to where they need to be.

It’s quite a read, but time well spent. When you truly know in-depth what your TXGU students are facing, you can be the greatest resource possible. (Spoiler alert: There IS a shout-out to a familiar program in the study. It rhymes with “deer cup”.)
