Help Build GUALA Class of 2015

Amazing opportunity alert! NCCEP is looking for GEAR UP alumni leaders to be part of the 2014-2015 GEAR UP Leadership Academy. If you know any former GEAR UP students who are entering college this fall, are currently enrolled, or just graduated and who would be excited to participate in a year of advocacy and leadership in education policy, definitely consider encouraging them to apply. (Or to make things super easy, you could even fill out a nomination form on their behalf.)

Of course, all candidates must be available to attend the required D.C. Alumni Leadership Training from June 14-21 (expenses paid). This year’s GUALA program will run from May 2014 to May 2015 and will focus on four key leadership skills in advocacy development: Peer Outreach, Social Media Activism, Public Speaking, and Issue Advocacy.

Know that GUALA requires a commitment of 10 hours per month for the year from students, as well as stellar academic history and extracurricular involvement. You can learn more about the program in the GUALA brochure or on the NCCEP website. And the most important thing to remember? All applications are due by April 4th!
