Jackpot!

Looks like Texas education scratched off a winning ticket, as the Texas Lottery has just contributed the largest amount of money in the agency’s history. Just how much? Over $1.2 billion, meaning that the Texas Lottery has now given over $17 billion to Texas public education over the last 22 years. Turns out those losing tickets aren’t just ripped-up slips of high hopes and dreams, as this money will now be used by the Texas Education Agency in the The Foundation School Fund. This fund will give money for the “operational needs and special program services for Texas school districts including teacher salaries, utilities, equipment, bilingual education, special education, gifted and talented education, and career and technical education."

This contribution is a huge boost for Texas education. So enjoy your winnings educators, because thanks to the Texas Lottery, it’s your lucky day!
